After completion of Dental School\, Dr. Lowe taught Restorative and Rehabilitative Dentistry on a part time basis and an additional five years on a full time basis at Loyola University School of Dentistry as well as building a private practice in Chicago\, IL\, and since 2000\, in Charlotte\, North Carolina. Dr. Lowe is a member of Catapult Elite Speakers Bureau and has Fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry\, International College of Dentists\, Academy of Dentistry International\, Pierre Fauchard Academy\, American College of Dentists\, the International Academy of Dento-Facial Aesthetics and the American Society for Dental Aesthetics. Most malocclusions we identify in children are the result of the underdevelopment of the maxilla and mandible. This underdevelopment has an effect on the ability of a child to breathe through their nose. Ultimately\, the changes in breathing have an effect on the quality of sleep.  The result is children with sleep disordered breathing and various symptoms that come with it. The dental team is uniquely positioned to recognize and help these children early with a variety of techniques. This program is a comprehensive\, interactive and hands on training for the entire team so that all in attendance can incorporate Myofunctional appliance therapy techniques in a competent\, comfortable and effective manner. \n\n  \nDr. Ben Miraglia graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He is a proud member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Dr. Miraglia completed a general practice residency program at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut. He has 22 years private practice experience in Mt. Kisco\, New York\, where his focus has been on early childhood growth and development. . Dr. Miraglia is a graduate of the United States Dental Institute where he learned his non-extraction and non-surgical orthodontic philosophy. He was appointed to the USDI faculty in 2008 and teaches nationally for them. Dr. Miraglia lectures nationally on childhood sleep disordered breathing and its impact on the development of the maxilla\, mandible and airway. \nDr. Miraglia holds faculty positions with Align Technology and the United States Dental Institute and is on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Cosmetic Orthodontics as well as the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry. Do they have facial asymmetry?   Do they sleep poorly? \nCourse Description\n Interceptive Orthodontic Treatment is any orthopedic/orthodontic treatment performed between the ages of three and eleven years. It is also referred to as Early Phase Orthodontics or Phase I Orthodontics. The primary purpose of Interceptive Orthodontics is to fully develop the middle and lower facial thirds\, which provides stable healthy function and best esthetic result possible.
