COURSE DESCRIPTION

Understanding, visualizing, and reproducing proper dentate morphology, regardless of the material used is the key to long-lasting  dental restorations. This course will demonstrate in a detailed step-by-step fashion, procedures that if practiced, can immediately impact your ability to deliver an improved level of artistic and functional dentistry. This is a hands-on Participation Course.

Robert A. Lowe, DDS, FAGD, FICD, FADI, FACD, FIADFE, FASDA, Diplomat American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry, received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, Magna cum laude, from Loyola School of Dentistry in 1982. After completion of Dental School, Dr. Lowe taught Restorative and Rehabilitative Dentistry on a part time basis and an additional five years on a full time basis at Loyola University School of Dentistry as well as building a private practice in Chicago, IL, and since 2000, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Lowe is a member of Catapult Elite Speakers Bureau and has Fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry, International College of Dentists, Academy of Dentistry International, Pierre Fauchard Academy, American College of Dentists, the International Academy of Dento-Facial Aesthetics and the American Society for Dental Aesthetics. In 2004, he received the Gordon Christensen Outstanding Lecturer Award for his contributions in the area of Dental Education. In 2005, Dr. Lowe was nominated to receive Diplomat status on the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry, an honor shared by less than 50 dentists in the entire United States. Over his career, Dr. Lowe has authored and published several hundred articles in many phases of cosmetic and rehabilitative dentistry.

COURSE TOPICS
Complex Aesthetic and Functional Oral Rehabilitation.
Aesthetic Crown and Bridge Techniques: Use of all ceramic systems and ceramometallic restorations in various clinical situations.
Complete oral rehabilitation demystified through the proper use of diagnostic provisionalization.
Determining vertical dimension and maintaining vertical dimension throughout the provisionalization process.
Open bite restoration without surgical intervention?
Prosthetic tooth repositioning and “orthodontic” tooth preparation.
Review of prep design and tissue management for perfect impressions.
The perio-aesthetic connection to restorative dentistry.
Soft tissue re-contouring using diode lasers.
Discussion of the position of the alveolar crest relative to the restorative margin.
Biologic width correction using all tissue lasers.
Cementation protocols for provisional cementation.
Cementation protocols for total etch and conventional cements.
Occlusal adjustment during the cementation process.

Participation Component:
The hands-on portion of this course will be an interactive session where we will treatment plan complex cases that Dr. Lowe has already completed. Also, Dr. Lowe will assist members with the treatment planning, and more importantly, the phasing of treatment of their own larger cases. Although not a requirement for participation credit, members are encouraged to bring a jump drive with full arch photos, FMX or panoramic x-ray, Full Mouth Perio Measurements, and photos of study models (preferably mounted).”
