Concluding Thoughts from Immediate Past President, Brad Nelson

It’s been a genuine honor serving as your Minnesota AGD President for the past two years. Thank you MN AGD volunteers and members for all your support and friendship. YOU have made my professional and personal life significantly more fulfilling.

Our Fellow/MasterTrack (APEX) has been thriving with our yearly spring and fall courses. While interacting with people in our last course, I saw many dentists motivated to educate themselves for their patients’ benefit, and not for money. I saw a group of people with the humble philosophy of “Take care of your patients and staff and the money will take care of itself”. That may sound old fashioned (I am getting old), but it is still true. It is even truer since “money as bottom-line” philosophies have taken over so much of healthcare today. I have observed many meaningful conversations and friendships formed at APEX courses. It seemed like every dentist at the last course was approachable – this is so important, especially for those of us in solo practice. Our next endeavor is to organize a study group with the same consistency as our Fellow/MasterTrack program. This would be a great setting to bring difficult cases for discussion with colleagues.

I highly encourage anyone who wants to get involved with the AGD in Minnesota to let one of our board members know and attend a monthly board or committee meeting. Getting involved will add fulfillment to your professional and personal life more than you realize.

Kind regards,
Brad Nelson
Immediate Past President
